Centralia police are investigating a shooting Friday that resulted in one victim being airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds.

According to Police Chief Brian Atchison, officers responded around 3:46 p.m. Friday to the area of Noleman and Maple in Centralia on reports of a shooting that had apparently made its way out into the street.

Atchison says several shots were apparently fired by one suspect and one subject was reportedly hit. The gunman reportedly fled the scene heading north on foot up an alley between Maple and Sycamore.

The victim was initially taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia before being airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital. The victim’s condition is not known at this time.

The case remains under investigation. Police are reportedly aware of the suspect’s identity and are currently looking for him.
