MOUNT VERNON — Mt. Vernon police have arrested two suspects for burglary of a house of worship, stemming from an incident at Spero Family Services.

According to Mt. Vernon Police Department Assistant Chief Trent Page, officers responded Wednesday to a call from Spero regarding a burglary to an office in the chapel on the facility grounds. The office was broken into and several items were taken.

An investigation into the incident led officers to develop 18-year-old Dylan J. Butler as a suspect and when officers made contact with Butler at Spero Family Services, he reportedly had several items in his possession that had been taken from the chapel.

The investigation then led to a second suspect, 19-year-old Sydney S. Pecora. Pecora is currently on probation for the January armed robbery of a Mt. Vernon taxi cab driver.

According to police reports, Pecora and a 17-year-old juvenile, were arrested in that case on charges of robbery, mob action, and aggravated battery.
