MARION COUNTY — A 30-year-old Centralia man has been formally charged in Marion County court with two Class 2 felonies for alleged battery to two correctional officers.

According to reports, Matthew Stebbins was about to be sentenced Thursday when fled from a Marion County courtroom after being told he’d failed a drug test.

As he fled the building, Stebbins allegedly shoved a deputy working the entrance of the courthouse and then became involved in a scuffle with another corrections officer transporting inmates into the courthouse.

Sentencing in Stebbins’ original case for possession of methamphetamine was continued, but his personal recognizance bond was revoked and replaced with a $15,000 bail.
