Death Investigation underway in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY — An investigation is ongoing after two people were found dead inside their Louisville home in Clay County on Wednesday.

61-year-old Mark Lane and 59-year-old Ann VanDyke were discovered after a 911 call to the home.

A press release from Clay County State’s Attorney Joel Powless stated that the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home to investigate a 911 call. At the scene deputies attempted to make contact with someone at the residence but were unable. Deputies were able to position themselves to view a portion of the interior of the residence, where they observed someone laying on the floor and who appeared to be unresponsive. Upon making entry into the residence they discovered that both VanDyke and Lane were deceased.

Clay County authorities have turned the investigation over to Illinois State Police Zone 7 Investigations, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, and the Clay County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing as the Clay County State’s Attorney’s Office has not received any information regarding possible suspects.
