Daniel Johnston is accused with three others of refusing to take the alleged victim home April 30 and forcing him to stay in the van against his will.

The victim reported jumping out of the van at one point but being forced back inside the vehicle and pistol whipped. He was then driven to Salem where he was forced to withdraw $100 and $500 from ATM machines.

He was ultimately taken home and threatened to not contact police. The next day he contacted law enforcement and was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of head and jaw injuries.

Centralia Police located Johnston Tuesday and took him into custody on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. The three other alleged subjects are still being sought.

Johnston remains in the Marion County Jail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 5.
