Glen R. Ramey filed an open plea of guilty in January to Class X predatory criminal sexual assault in exchange for a first-degree murder charge for the 2016 strangling death of Sabrina Stauffenberg being dismissed.

Ramey has been advised that despite that sentencing guideline, as a sexually violent or sexually dangerous person he could be civilly incarcerated for an indefinite period following his prison term.

He will have to serve 85-percent of his sentence and if released to parole will have to register for life as a sexual predator.

Ramey is currently being held in the Menard maximum security correctional center in Southern Illinois.

He’s scheduled for a status hearing on his motion to withdraw his guilty plea on July 20 in Richland County court.
