SIU Pres. Randy Dunn

CARBONDALE — In an extraordinary move, members of the SIU Board of Trustees have called a special meeting for Friday afternoon at the Carbondale campus to discuss administrative leave of SIU President Randy Dunn and appointment of an acting president, which will likely increase weeks of tension at the schools as Dunn says he has not requested leave.

A notice of the special meeting says it’s expected that following a closed door meeting, votes will be taken on the administrative leave of President Dunn and the appointment of an acting president.

Dunn has recently become embroiled in controversy following the release of emails that showed him crudely dismissing the concerns of officials at Carbondale during an ongoing debate about state funding.
