WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Two people were involved in a motorcycle crash early Monday morning in Williamson County.

According to Illinois State Police, around 12:15 a.m. 49-year-old John R. Norton of Terre Haute, Indiana was driving his motorcycle exiting Interstate 24 and entering Interstate 57 when he lost control of the motorcycle and it left the roadway.

After the motorcycle left the roadway, it overturned and ejected Norton and his 41-year-old passenger Nichole L. Shaughnessy of Mt. Vernon.

Norton was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital with serious injuries. Shaughnessy was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries.

No charges were filed.
