Vicki Jean (Ryan) Cantrell

SALEM — Vicki Jean (Ryan) Cantrell, 67, born September 18, 1952, passed away May 1, 2020, at her home with family by her side.

She was the daughter of Norma Jean (Warden) Ryan and Jack Gene Ryan who preceded her in death.

She was married at Young’s Chapel Church in Salem, October 8, 1972, to Robert Gene Cantrell and he survives her. Also surviving are her children, Connie Jean Scherrer and Melissa Kay Cantrell both of Salem. She is also survived by her siblings Debbie Ryan of Chicago, IL, Mike Ryan (spouse Lori) of Salem, Patti Shaffer (spouse David) of Owasso, OK, Shirley Fenton of Jacksonville, FL, and Tammy Spencer of Texas. Also, her sister-in-law Donna Brown of Glen Carbon, IL; her grandchildren; Cora Cantrell, Ryan Scherrer, Michael Scherrer, Rebecca Hays, Brenna Hays and Stephen Hays all of Salem, along with several loving nieces and nephews.

Vicki retired after 29 years at the Farm Service Agency. She was a member of Evergreen Christian Church in Salem, and a proud member of the Isaac Hull Chapter DAR, and the Marion County Genealogical and Historical Society. Her hobbies included coin collecting, genealogy, playing golf and especially camping and spending time with her grandchildren.

Due to the current health crises, the family has organized a drive through visitation at 12:00 o’clock noon Monday, until 1:00 p.m. at the Iuka Cemetery, Iuka, Illinois. There will be no public visitation or funeral service.

For those wishing to honor Vicki’s memory, the family suggests donations be made to Salem Country Club Junior Golf Program, the Salem Theatre and Cultural Center, Young’s Chapel Christian Church or the Evergreen Christian Church and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home, P.O.
