CHICAGO (AP) — The coronavirus pandemic has reached the bench in Cook County for the first time. The office of Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans says two judges assigned to the courthouse in the suburb of Bridgeview tested positive.

The release also says the number of court system employees to test positive is now 39 after an employee with the adult probation department testing positive.

The county’s criminal justice system has been hit hard by the virus. At the county jail, hundreds of detainees and correctional officers have tested positive.  Seven detainees and two correctional officers who tested positive have died.
