Each spring the SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary awards scholarships to a designated number of high school seniors who live in the hospital’s service area.

As required, each scholarship recipient has committed to pursuing a healthcare-related career path.

In 2020 the Good Samaritan hospital Auxiliary sponsored four $750.00 scholarships and the Warren-Holler family sponsored two $750.00 scholarships, making a total of six scholarships awarded.

Application packets were distributed to area high schools in December of 2019 and the successful scholarship winners were selected in May of 2020.

One Warren-Holler scholarship was awarded to Daniel Song who graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School and has been accepted into the Baccalaureate-Doctor of Medicine program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine in Kansas City, MO.

Of the remaining four $750.00 scholarships, one was awarded to Emma Benderky, who graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in June of 2020. She is planning to attend Maryville University in St. Louis, MO where she will be working toward a degree in physical therapy.

Two others, Jasmine Devore and Dusti Ann Schoreck both graduated from Salem Community High School.

Devore plans to attend Kaskaskia College and major in nursing.

Schoreck also will be attending Kaskaskia College and will be pursuing dual credentials in radiology and sonography.

The SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary would like to congratulate this year’s recipients and extend their best wishes and prayers to all applicants in their pursuits of their healthcare careers.
