JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 31-year-old Mt. Vernon man is in the Jefferson County Jail following his arrest Tuesday for alleged possession of child pornography.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives received information Monday regarding suspected child pornography activity within the county.
The investigation led to the execution Tuesday of a search warrant on a residence in the 800 block of South 20th Street in Mt. Vernon.
Evidence was reportedly recovered as a result of a search of the residence and the primary resident, Phillip A. Borcherding.
Borcherding was ultimately arrested for possession of child pornography and booked into the Jefferson County Jail where he remains awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
