CENTRALIA — Due to a staff member in the school testing positive for COVID-19, Centralia Junior High and Middle School are going on full remote learning for the rest of this week, starting this morning.

The district says it’s working with the local health departments to promptly identify and monitor individuals who have had recent contact with the COVID-19 positive individual to prevent further spread within the school and community.    The school will also be cleaned and disinfected.

Staff members and students who are identified as having had prolonged close contact with the confirmed COVID-19 case will be placed in quarantine for 14 days.  Close contacts will also receive a separate notification from the local health department.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were scheduled as in-person learning but Friday was already scheduled to be a full remote day.  Lunch will be available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the same manner that students are scheduled to receive the meals on Friday.

Students at Schiller and Jordan schools will continue to attend classes in person.
