CENTRALIA — Kathryn “Kathy” J. Beal (Beasley), also known as “Grammy” to many, went to be with the Lord peacefully with her family by her side on September 21st, 2020 after a 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Kathy was a faithful, dedicated, and ambitious woman beginning her career working at Scott AFB. She married Neil A. Beal in 1962 and then devoted her time to raising her four children. Later she obtained her real estate license and sold real estate for Rod Snow Realty. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors earning many awards. Kathy and Neil were owners of Chaney’s Drive-In and she was also a member of the Habitat for Humanity. Owning several rental properties, Kathy was known to her tenants as a generous landlord.
Kathy, who came from humble beginnings, loved her family, friends, and everyone and everything she encountered selflessly. Her love for Jesus and faith in God was lived by example each day. Her church homes included The First Church of God-Anderson, Eternity Baptist Church, and the First Church of the Nazarene in Centralia. She never turned down a hot fudge sundae, a chance to shop, cuddling an animal, a crispy BLT, songs from Elvis, a chance to show her patriotism, or engaging in good conversation.
Survivors include her four adoring children, Julie and husband Todd Schultze, Sherry and husband Dr. James Dimitroff, Susan and husband Todd Ayers and, Ryan and wife Dr. Heather Beal. Her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Alexis and husband Zachary Fischer, Trey Schultze, Lucas Schultze, Morgan Hart and fiance Tanner Calvert, Brooklyn Hart, Michael Hopkins, Ellie Hopkins, Riley Beal, Cameron Beal, Tanner Beal, and Eli Beal; great-grandchildren Ryder Koger, Harper Schultze, and Bowen Schultze; brother and best friend, Jim Beasley, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Kathy was born February 18th, 1938 in Centralia, IL to Harry “Lee” and Mattie Belle (Cantrell) Beasley.
Kathy is preceded in death by her husband Neil Beal, her parents Harry “Lee” and Mattie Belle Beasley, her sister Mary Louise, and her brother, Franklin D. Beasley.
A private family and close friend funeral service for Kathryn “Kathy” Beal will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Centralia with Pastor Tim Mondy officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2020, at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home where those in attendance will be asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing.
In honor of Kathy, memorial donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, Residential Hospice and the Alzheimers Association and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Beal family.
