CENTRALIA — Centralia police assisted the FBI in the execution of two search warrants and an arrest warrant Thursday, which included the use of an FBI SWAT Team.

According to Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson,  Drug Task Force agents, as well as Officers from the Centralia Police Department, executed a traffic stop on a suspect that was followed by the FBI SWAT Team executing a search warrant of a residence in the 300 block of South Pine Street as well as at an address on Golf Lane in Centralia.

A resident of the 300 block of South Pine Street home was arrested on a Federal Arrest Warrant and a second subject was taken into custody on Golf Lane. Due to the nature of the warrant being sealed, names cannot be released until the subject is arraigned in federal court.

This operation was the result of an ongoing investigation conducted by the FBI, DEA, and local law enforcement officers assigned to the Federal Drug Task Force. This operation involved Agents from the Springfield and Fairview Heights FBI offices, Officers from the Carlyle Police Department Clinton Co Sheriff’s Department Salem Police Department, and the Centralia Police Department.

Dodson says these types of operations are an example of local law enforcement working in partnership with Federal agencies to combat the drug problems in the area.

Further information regarding the exact charges or other details of the operation are being referred to the US Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois.
