CENTRALIA — In an ongoing effort to keep alcohol and Nicotine products out of the hands of area youth, the Centralia Police Department conducted an Alcohol and E-Cigerette/Vape compliance check on local retailers of these products.

On Thursday, October 1, 2020, package liquor establishments and E-Cigarette compliance checks were conducted.

This latest round compliance checks resulted in none of the package alcohol retailers that were checked selling alcohol to the youth buyers.

According to Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson, two of the retail establishments that were checked did sell E-Cigarettes to the youth buyers, the clerk’s and businesses are identified as Debra Murdach-Wilson, an employee of Farm Fresh on South Poplar, and Nathaniel Louvier, an employee of Circle K on East McCord Street.

The clerks were issued citations for sale of an e-cigarette to a minor and given notice to appear in court.

Dodson says the Centralia Police Department congratulates the retail managers and clerks of the businesses who denied the sale to the minors and that keeping these products out of the hands of our youth is extremely important.

As a reminder just like alcohol, the legal age to purchase any Tobacco or E-cigarette product is 21 years of age.
