WALNUT HILL — Diane Woolbright, 89, of Walnut Hill, passed away peacefully at Doctors Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Salem on Thursday, October 15, 2020.
She is survived by her three children: son, Kevin Woolbright and wife Debby of Walnut Hill, a daughter: Karen Collier and husband Mark of Iuka, and a daughter: Pam Lowery and husband Dave of Longview, Texas; six grandchildren: JD Woolbright and wife Heather, Jennifer Smith and husband Steven, Jared Collier and wife Becky, Dustin Collier and wife Amanda, Staci Raffety, and Mathew Lowery and wife Whitney; several great-grandchildren: Curran, Camden, Ethan, Nora, Atley, Burke, Rowan, Jonathan, Jaylin, Nicolas, Elaina, Amelia, Liam and Lilliana. Also surviving, a sister-in-law: Rosanna Perkins of Centralia; special nieces: Marla McDaneld and family of Kell, Illinois, Terry Herzog and family of Florida, and Debbie Rodriguez and family of Florida.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jackie A. Woolbright, a brother: David Perkins, her parents: Frederick and Ethel Perkins, a sister-in-law: Colleen McDonald and husband Delmar McDonald; and father and mother-in-law: Harry and Beulah Woolbright.
Diane was born February 21, 1931, in Centralia, the daughter of Fred and Ethel (Truitt) Perkins. She married Jackie Armin Woolbright of Centralia on December 18, 1948, and graduated from Centralia Township High School in May of 1949. The couple moved to Florida, where they had their first child, Kevin, and 4 years later a daughter, Karen. The family then moved to the farm in Kell, Illinois. Diane began her long career of a bookkeeper/secretary at Nelson Concrete in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Five years later the couple had their third child, a daughter, Pamela. Diane went on to hold positions of bookkeeping/secretarial work for 40 plus years at Radiac Abrasives, Salem Tire, Class and Schuffett CPA, and finally retired in 1996 from Barry Krupp Insurance.
Diane loved to be outside working in her yard, watching and feeding birds, especially her hummingbirds. She loved traveling with her husband Jack. She also loved to volunteer and serve for her church. She loved to sing in the choir, play cards with longtime friends and family during the holidays, and most of all she loved being with her family and loving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020, at the Calvary Free Will Baptist at 2868 South Broadway Salem, Illinois 62801, where those in attendance will be asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing.
A private family Celebration of Life Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to Harvey’s Point Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Woolbright family.
