CENTRALIA — Helen Joyce Patton, 96, of Centralia, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020, at the Mt. Vernon Health Care Center.
Helen was born April 25, 1924, in Centralia, the daughter of Walter W. Tabor and Zada F. (Mandrell) Tabor. She married Albert W. Patton on April 10, 1948, in Centralia and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1994.
Helen is survived by one daughter Joan Watson and husband Charles of Irvington; one sister: Mary Ainscough of Centralia; step-grandson: Marty Watson and wife Lisa of Iuka; two step-great-granddaughters: Jessica Koch and husband Jerry of Dix, and Stephanie Remer and husband Dave of Woodlawn; several step great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; also longtime caregiver: Carolyn Shaffer of Sandoval.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Zada Tabor; husband: Albert Patton; brother: Sonny Tabor; and twin sisters: Imogene and Kathleen.
Helen was a member of the Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia. Helen enjoyed playing BINGO and Fast Track. Most of all, Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
A visitation for Helen Patton will be held from 10 a.m.. to 11 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Hillcrest Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel. Due to local health mitigations, only 10 people are allowed to enter the Chapel at a time, masks must be worn, and social distancing will be observed.
A private family Memorial Service will follow with Pastor Karl Barnfield officiating with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Centralia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Helen to the Centralia Human Society and Eternity Baptist Church and will be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia 618-532-3523 who is honored to be of service to the Patton family.
