MOUNT VERNON — A 21-year-old Mt. Vernon man was charged Wednesday in Jefferson County Court with multiple felonies stemming from a weekend incident at a Mt. Vernon bar that resulted in another man being hospitalized in serious condition.

Hunter Clover was charged with two Class 3 felonies for aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm and aggravated battery in a public place, along with Class 4 felony reckless conduct resulting in great bodily harm.

According to Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page, officers responded Saturday night to Dee Bee’s on South Ninth Street on a report of a belligerent subject the bar wanted removed. Before officers arrived, however, they received a second call of the person needing medical attention.

Other reports indicate the subject is a male in his 40s and he remains hospitalized in serious condition. We’re not releasing his identity.

Page says his officers and detectives worked the case all weekend and into Wednesday, and continue to investigate the incident. No other information will be released until the investigation is complete.
