An Empty Theater Played This For 54 Weeks

… “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”!

The Clinton Street Theater in Portland has played “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” every Saturday night for 43 years.
Nathan Williams refused to let the pandemic end the streak!  For 54 weeks, he went alone or with a friend.
He referred to this as “keeping a flame burning, to keep a torch lit.”  He was “holding a torch for the city of Portland”

The owner also went on to say, “It’s just kind of a silly little thing, but it was still a sense of hope… This is what normal is. Normal is we play ‘Rocky Horror’ on a Saturday night, and that’s what’s happening.”

The theater was able to reopen on April 3rd, and I bet you’ll never guess what the first movie they played was.
