Dee always had a calling to fulfill her role as a registered nurse. She desired to be the hands of Christ through acts of nurturing and compassion. She worked as a nurse but also went on several medical mission trips abroad. She graduated from Kaskaskia College School of Nursing at the age of 55. Her last work assignment as a nurse was at Salem Township Hospital where she worked for 20 years and did not retire until the age of 80. Her work at Salem was very close to her heart, where she worked on the medical-surgical unit and with cardiologist, Scott Nordlicht MD, from St. Louis, Missouri.
Dee used every opportunity to share her tremendous passion of her faith in our Lord and Savior. One of the ways she served was through teaching, singing, and praying through her work as the prayer chairman and board member of the Christian Bible Study group at Grace of the Nazarene Church in Salem, Illinois.

Dee was a member of The Rock Church. Her last meeting with Pastor Steve and Jennifer Upchurch was imploring them to “put another brick on the wall”, a reference from the book of Nehemiah, encouraging them to continue to provide working discipleship through the church.
