Clara Ruth Taylor

SALEM — Clara Ruth Taylor, 91, of Salem, died at her home April 22, 2021, in the care of her family. Clara worked several years at the Walmart store in Salem.

She was a faithful member of the Marion County Church of Christ, Odin, IL. Her brother Bill Griffin who preceded her in death on January 19, 2021, spent more than 40 years as a Church of Christ preacher in various congregations throughout the State of Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Survivors include daughters Phyllis Jean Morrison of Salem, IL, Denise Lynn Elders and husband Jim of Warrenton, MO, Valerie Frakes of Buffalo, MO; sons Keith Meadows and wife Anita of Vandalia, IL and Steven Meadows and wife Jackie of Garland, TX. Grandchildren: Brian Wolf and wife Christy of Arlington Heights, IL, Chad Elders of Springfield, MO, Christopher Elders of Warrenton, MO, Stephanie Stanton and husband Eric of Wentzville, MO, Mark Meadows and wife Andrea of Vandalia, IL, Tamara Plachy and husband David of Garland, TX, Randal Pierce and wife Stephanie of Tucson, AZ, Megan Smith and husband Nick of Centralia, IL, Melissa Howard and husband Brendan of Buffalo, MO, along with 15 great-grandchildren.

Clara was born January 14, 1930, in Dunklin County, MO. the daughter of Cecil and Juanita (Harrison) Griffin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters Helen (Kim) Clark, Jean Hughes and Sue Sprunger; also, her brothers, Bill Griffin and Larry Griffin.

Simple cremation was chosen and there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
