In honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, Memorial Day programs will be held today in Centralia, Mt. Vernon, Patoka and Salem.

The service in Centralia will start at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with U.S. Navy Lieutenant Reverend Sidney Davis, Jr. delivering the keynote speech.

In Mt. Vernon, services will begin at 11 a.m. at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

This year’s guest speaker is Greater Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mike Beard.

Beard is a Veteran of the United States Army last stationed at the 249th General Hospital at Camp Drake in Japan.

Services in Patoka will begin at 11 a.m. in the Patoka Cemetery.

In Salem, memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. in the American Legion parking lot, with Salem Mayor Nick Farley as guest speaker.
