CENTRALIA — A 25-year-old Centralia man was arrested and released from the Marion County Jail over the weekend after he allegedly fired a gun toward another man following a dispute between two groups of people.

Matthew Woods was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Friday on multiple charges after allegedly firing the weapon in the 600 block of East 11th Street in Centralia.

According to Centralia police, Woods had left the area in a vehicle before officers had arrived in response to the gunshot call.

The 38-year-old Centralia man who is believed to have been the target of the gunfire was not struck or injured.

Centralia police later located Woods walking on Elm Street on Saturday and he was taken into custody on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and aggravated assault.

Woods reportedly did not have a weapon in his possession at the time of his arrest and the gun has not been located.
