MARION COUNTY — A 28-year-old Centralia man was charged Wednesday in Marion County Court with multiple felonies following separate incidents in Centralia.

Jerry Zappa

According to Centralia police, Jerry Zappa was arrested Tuesday morning after receiving a 911 call from his estranged wife claiming he had just struck her car head-on as she was leaving work and had since been chasing her around town.

After he was spotted by police, Zappa reported fled and led officers on a pursuit into the Germantown area where a Clinton County Sheriff’s deputy deployed stop sticks and successfully disabled Zappa’s vehicle.

In addition to being arrested on charges stemming from alleged incidents on Tuesday, Zappa was also arrested in connection with a pursuit Friday morning when during a traffic stop he reportedly grabbed the officer’s wrist, sped off down the street while dragging the officer.

Zappa was formally charged Wednesday morning with Class 2 felony aggravated battery to a police officer, Class 3 felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor violation of an order of protection.
