MARION COUNTY — A 29-year-old Centralia man was sentenced in Marion County Court Friday to 30-days in jail after Judge Mark Stedelin found him in indirect criminal contempt of court.

Bail had just been set at $100,000 for Cody J. Rigney who was charged with Class 1 felony possession of between 15 and 100 grams of methamphetamine.

At the end of the hearing, Rigney reportedly flipped off the court with both hands.

Judge Stedelin ordered the contempt sentence to be served at the conclusion of any sentence Rigney might receive if convicted on the meth charge.

Rigney was arrested Thursday when a Wamac police officer attempted to stop his vehicle knowing Rigney was unlicensed.

However, Rigney initially failed to stop but when he finally did and was taken into custody, the meth was allegedly found in his possession.

He’s currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections on two separate meth case convictions out of Marion and Clinton counties.

Rigney is next scheduled to appear in court October 26 on the meth charge.
