SPRINGFIELD, Ill — Governor JB Pritzker announced Wednesday $94 million in funding to improve public airports throughout Illinois.

The money represents the largest capital investment program for airports in state history says the governor, providing funding to locations statewide.

The funding unlocks $11 and a half million dollars in local contributions as well. The 96 projects selected include $180,000 for the reconstruction of the north airport access road and gate installation at the Salem-Leckrone Airport in Salem; $918,000 to rehabilitate the parking lot, entrance road and aircraft apron access points at the Mount Vernon Airport; $607,500 to reconstruct aircraft T-hangar access pavement at the Vandalia Municipal Airport; $585,000 to reconstruct the parking lot and aircraft hangar access pavement at the Flora Municipal Airport; and $835,000 for apron expansion, along with an additional $280,000 for road relocation at the Southern Illinois Airport in Carbondale.
