BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (AP) — Suburban Chicago police say officers fatally shot an armed man early Thursday after he refused to comply with officers’ orders as he walked toward them while firing two handguns.

Buffalo Grove police say the man called 911 and when officers arrived about 12:30 a.m. he was firing two handguns and walking toward them. Buffalo Grove Deputy Police Chief Mike Szos says officers ordered the man to stop and, when he continued toward them, they opened fire.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released, but the Chicago Sun-Times reports the Cook County medical examiner’s office says he was a 25-year-old Elgin resident.
