Sherri D. Pierce, 65, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away May 11, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born November 19, 1956 in Bluford, Illinois to the late William and Alice (Cornwell) McClain. She married Tracy Pierce and he preceded her in death. Sherri is survived by son, Billy Rawls of Olney, Illinois; grandson, Riley William; brother, Tony McClain of Mount Vernon; sisters, Lisa (Curtis) Hoelscher of Irvington, Illinois and Carla Laffoon of Kentucky; lifelong friend, Roberta Harwell of Wayne City, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Sherri was preceded in death by her daughter, Galynn Renee; and brother, Randy McClain. Sherri worked at Nature Trail Health Care Center for many years, where she took great pride in caring for the elderly. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Sherri will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM at East Hickory Hill Cemetery in Bluford, Illinois. Inurnment will follow.
