Lela Darlene Seymore, 66, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away at 7:41 AM on March 3, 2023 at Southgate Nursing and Rehab Center in Metropolis.

She was born October 30, 1956 to the late Donald Edward Buchanan and Eva Mae Hoy. Lela married Edward Eugene Seymore Sr. on February 8, 1975 in Flora, Illinois.

Lela is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, children; Fay Lynn Thomas and husband, Bryan of Karnak, Illinois, Frieda Mae Mayberry and husband, Rodney of Karnak, Edward “Eddie” E. Seymore Jr of Terre Haute, Indiana, 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Hunt and husband, Howard of Cisne, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Lela was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Edward and Eva Mae Buchanan; sister, Rita Walker; and half sister, Linda Buchanan.

Lela worked on the assembly line at the Career Development Center in Fairfield, Illinois and was a member of First Baptist Church of Bluford. She loved weather spotting, crafting and genealogy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from Noon until 1:00 PM at Hughey Funral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM with Mr. Bobby House III officiating. Interment will follow at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois.
