Larry N. Frazier, age 81, of Salem, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home on Sunday, July 5, 2026

He was born on January 4, 1945, in McLeansboro, Illinois, the son of Jack and Mildred (Crider) Frazier. On April 12, 1974, he married Margaret Easley in Dahlgren, Illinois, and together they shared a loving marriage filled with family, faith, and many cherished memories.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his courageous service. Following his military career, he dedicated many years to protecting his community as a patrol officer with the Salem Police Department before becoming a detective. His integrity, determination, and commitment to serving others earned him the respect of both his fellow officers and the citizens he served.

Larry was a man of many talents who seemed able to master anything he set his mind to. Whether it was becoming a golf champion after only a short time in the sport or excelling as a bowling champion, he approached every challenge with confidence and determination. Early in life he enjoyed being the drummer in a band.  He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved skiing, golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, spending time on the river in his boat and treasured the many vacations he spent in the mountains with his family.

A faithful member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Larry’s life was guided by his faith, his love for his family, and his willingness to help others.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret Frazier of Salem; his children, Joe and wife Becky, Elaine, Bruce, William “Buckley”, Rodney and wife Beth, Matt and wife Bonnie, and Beau; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brother, Leonard; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mildred Frazier, and his brother, Jackie Lee Frazier.

A Memorial Service for Larry N. Frazier will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Father Jose Jacob officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Salem American Legion. Interment will take place at a later date at Odd Fellows Cemetery in McLeansboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
