
MOUNT VERNON — A pedestrian suffered serious injury after she was reportedly struck by a vehicle Wednesday night near the police station in Mt. Vernon,
According to reports, the accident occurred around 8 p.m. on North 10th Street, just north of the police station, resulting in northbound traffic on 10th Street from Harrison being halted while emergency crews responded to the scene.
The pedestrian, a Mt. Vernon Township High School student from Opdyke, was reportedly unresponsive and was airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment.
Tenth Street was reopened to traffic around 8:30 p.m. No further information was being released at this time.
