MARION COUNTY — The Marion County Coroner’ Office is currently investigating the apparent suicide of rural Salem man. Coroner Troy Cannon pronounced 60-year-old Charles S. Short deceased at 9:17 a.m. Monday morning.

The Coroner’s Office was assisted at the scene by Marion County EMS, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Rankin Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements.
