CHICAGO (AP) — Amtrak is ramping up service and offering tips to passengers ahead of one of the busiest travel days of the year.

Officials in Chicago said Tuesday they’re expecting a surge of passengers for Thanksgiving, particularly on Wednesday and Sunday.

They say Amtrak set a record last year, carrying 772,211 travelers during the Thanksgiving holiday. Even higher numbers are expected this year.

Officials suggest travelers use the Track a Train system on the Amtrak website to check estimated arrival times and station information.

They also recommend eTicketing, which allows passengers to use a smartphone or their computer printer to get their boarding document. That makes for faster bookings and shorter lines at ticket counters.
