CHICAGO (AP) — A 21-year-old accused of threatening to kill white students or staff members at the University of Chicago is out of jail.

A federal judge agreed Tuesday to put Jabari Dean under house arrest in the custody of his mother. The engineering student will be allowed to attend classes at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Release conditions include Dean staying off the Internet.

His mother expressed concern at Tuesday’s hearing about her son’s job prospects because of the arrest.

The University of Chicago closed Monday after learning of the threat.

Dean was arrested Monday. Authorities say Dean, who is black, posted the threat after prosecutors charged Officer Jason Van Dyke with first-degree murder in Laquan McDonald’s death and released the video of the shooting.
