MOUNT VERNON — A 22-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested, after he allegedly fled from police after being informed he was under arrest for obstructing a peace officer.
According to police, they repeatedly witnessed Jarrod Robinson entering the roadway on 10th Street after authorities had instructed him to vacate the roadway.
Reports indicate that after being told he was under arrest, Robinson fled, and a pursuit followed. When officers caught up with Robinson, they say he assaulted an officer and continued to demonstrate aggression during his apprehension.
Robinson was charged with aggravated battery to an officer and criminal damage to state supported property. He was also charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after a search of his person resulted in the discovery of these items.
Robinson was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he remains awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
