The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) is encouraging all Illinoisans to “Take the LEAD” and observe FOP National Law Enforcement Day (LEAD) on Saturday, January 9.
The FOP is offering suggestions on how to thank your local law enforcement:
• If you see a police officer, thank them personally
• Wear blue clothing or display a blue light at your home or business
• Send a card or letter of support to your local police department
• “Like” your local police agency’s Facebook page
• Change your social media profile picture to an image supporting law enforcement
• Share a positive experience you’ve had with a police officer
• Organize a local event to support law enforcement officers
“Law enforcement is usually a thankless job, but it doesn’t have to be,” Illinois FOP President Chris Southwood said. “On January 9, let’s all make an effort to let these brave men and women know they are appreciated for what they do for us. A simple ‘thank you’ costs nothing and means a great deal.”
