GLEN CARBON (AP) — Water service was shut off at an Illinois Department of Public Health office in Glen Carbon on Thursday morning due to an unpaid bill.

The service had been restored by Thursday afternoon after the state scheduled two payments, said Jamie Bowden, the village administrator in Glen Carbon, which is 80 miles south of Springfield in the Metro East area.

Peggy Goudy, the village clerk, said a payment of $226.03 was expected to be received within five days and another $349.97 was expected within 10 days. Goudy was unsure when the $227.20 to pay off the balance of the bill would be sent.
Payments hadn’t been received since August, she said.

A spokeswoman from the Illinois Department of Public Health referred questions about the shutoff to the Department of Central Management Services, where a spokesperson was unavailable to comment on Thursday.
