WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Illinois State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting which happened around Thursday afternoon in Williamson County.
A preliminary investigation indicates ISP agents were searching for a suspect wanted on a felony warrant for allegedly robbing Family Drug in Carterville last month when around 3:15 p.m. Thursday they found the suspect in a home located in the 100 block of Seba Street in Hurst.
The suspect allegedly displayed a handgun and the agents fired their guns striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
ISP Crime Scene and ISP Division of Internal Investigations are conducting the investigation. The investigation continues and no further information is being released at this time.
