WILLIAMSON COUNTY — A crash involving a car and an ambulance happened Tuesday morning in Williamson County.

State Police say around 7:40 a.m., 26-year-old George Trigg of Vienna was driving the ambulance to an emergency call with its lights and sirens activated north on Illinois 148 proceeding cautiously through the intersection with Illinois 13 as it had a red light.
A car, driven by 37-year-old Joseph Roach of Johnston City, was going west on 13 approaching the intersection with 148 and had a green light. As Roach approached the intersection, he said he saw the ambulance at the last second and was unable to avoid striking it.
Roach’s car entered the intersection where it struck the ambulance in its right front corner with the car’s left front corner. Both vehicles received minor damage.
Roach suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Trigg and his passenger, 41-year-old Phillip Mills of Marion, were not hurt in the crash. No charges were filed.
