ARCOLA, Ill. (AP) — A planned wildlife park is set to open outside a small, eastern Illinois town.

Owner James Aikman tells The News-Gazette in Champaign that Aikman Wildlife Adventure will open Friday. The park is at the former Rockome Gardens attraction near Arcola. That is about 35 miles south of Champaign.

For $20 a car visitors will be able to drive through an area that now has 80 animals. They include a blue wildebeest, a large antelope called an eland and a Chapman’s zebra. A walk-through zoo and more attractions are planned for later.

Aikman bought the Rockome Gardens property last September after opposition from neighbors prevented him from building at another eastern Illinois location.
