CENTRALIA — A weekend traffic stop by Centralia police led to the arrest of 26-year-old Salem man on charges of possessing nearly 60 grams of cocaine and burglary tools.
Jerrad Middleton was arrested after a police K-9 alerted on the vehicle Middleton was driving and a subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly revealed drugs.
Centralia officers reportedly found two large baggies containing 57.9 grams of a substance that field tested positive for cocaine hidden in a sunglass case.
The search also reportedly revealed a lock pick kit and an electronic scale. Middleton was ultimately arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail to await the formal filing of charges and setting of bail.
His passenger, 34-year-old Dennis Phillips, of Decatur was issued a city ordinance violation for alleged possession of cannabis.
Middleton is currently serving 5-years probation on a 2015 conviction for manufacturing between 100 and 400 grams of methamphetamine.
