CENTRALIA — Due to the lack of a State budget, which has resulted in no State funding for Kaskaskia College for more than 9 months, the College is facing severe financial challenges.
The KC Board of Trustees met last night and are committed to remaining the economic engine of District 501, and therefore must make significant budget cuts in order to continue to serve the District.
As a result, the hours of six Building and Grounds Technicians shall be reduced from 40 hours per week to 30 hours per week effective on May 1, 2016 and another Building and Grounds Technician was released.
Other employees released were the Culinary Services Manager and the Financial Aid Adviser/Loan Services Coordinator.
In personnel matters, the Board approved the resignation of Nursing Instructors Julie Obermark, Kari Frizzo, and Christina Myers, and the retirement of Librarian – LRC Director Kathy Overstreet, and Manager of Records and Registration Jan Ripperda.
The Board also approved the hiring of new Nursing Instructors Lucinda Spencer of Salem, Nichole Macon of Carlyle, and K.C. Root of Bartelso.
Wadella Nagai of Centralia was hired as the new Coordinator of Custodial Services. Scott Crothers of Greenville was approved as the Full-Time Assistant Professor of Philosophy.
In other personnel action, the board approved the re-appointment of professional managerial and executive managerial employees and approved the following faculty from first year faculty to second year probationary faculty, which included Crothers and Lynda Marshall.
