WAYNE COUNTY — A 37-year-old Fairfield woman was arrested Wednesday night for alleged delivery of a controlled substance, after reportedly arranging to sell pills to plain clothed deputies.

Michelle L. Hayes reportedly exchanged a series of text messages to arrange the sale of some prescription pain pills. However, when she arrived to meet the buyer in the parking lot of a local church, she discovered they were Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies in plain clothes.

Hayes was arrested the sale was being made. She was taken to the Wayne County Jail where she remains awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.

At the time of her arrest Wednesday Hayes was free on bond from two Wayne County cases. In an April 2015 case she’s charged with Class 1 felony manufacture with the intent to deliver between 1-15 grams of heroin and Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance. In a September 2015 case she’s charged with Class 1 felony manufacture of less than 15 grams of methamphetamine and Class 3 felony possession of less than 5 grams of meth. She is next due in court May 9, on both those cases.
