MARION COUNTY — Bail was set Monday in Marion County Court at $10,000 for a 38-year-old Salem woman charged with possessing a stolen vehicle.

Marlene Harper, who reported she is homeless, was pulled over just before midnight Sunday by Salem police in the 500 block of West Main Street.

The vehicle she was driving had been reported stolen by its owner and his wife who live in Herrin.

Harper was taken to the Marion County Jail where she remains, charged with Class 2 felony possession of a stolen vehicle.

Despite admonishment by Judge Mark Stedelin, Harper waived her right to counsel. She is next scheduled in court May 25th for a preliminary hearing.
