CLAY COUNTY — According to the Illinois State Police, a crash between a car and a farm implement occurred just after 9:30 Monday morning in Clay County, that resulted in the driver of the car being airlifted to a hospital in Indiana for treatment of injuries.
Police reports say the crash happened just south of Clay City on Big Four Road, when a farm implement driven by 47-year-old William Keith Harvel, of Clay City, was traveling east on Day Flower Lane, while a car driven by 35-year-old Lawrence Ewing, of Fairfield, was northbound on Big Four Road.
Police say the farm implement ran a stop sign and pulled into the path of the car, which went under the front of the farm implement. Both units came to rest in a ditch on the northeast corner of the intersection.
Harvel was not injured, but Ewing was injured and was taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora, then was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Harvel was cited for failure to yield and for disobeying a stop sign.
No addresses were given for Ewing or Harvel.
