POPE COUNTY — Authorities are confirming they have found a truck believed driven by a man accused of shooting a Mahomet police officer in the arm Saturday night.
Dracy “Clint” Pendleton allegedly stole the truck in Champaign County after the shooting. Pendleton’s truck was found abandoned near the Riverbend Forest Preserve in Champaign County.
Police believe Pendleton then stole a white two-door GMC 2500 with Illinois registration number 165533B.
Authorities say this stolen truck was found in Pope County, near the area where officers have been searching in Shawnee National Forest.
Since finding the stolen truck, law enforcement has closed roads near the Lusk Creek area of the Shawnee National Forest. They say Pendleton is familiar with the area and should be considered armed and very dangerous.
The FBI is now offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest; Crime Stoppers is offering is offering an additional $1,000 reward.
Illinois State Police say Pendleton has changed his appearance since the shooting, and is believed to have shaved his beard and trimmed his hair.
Pendleton, 5’10”, 155 lbs, has blue eyes and blonde hair. His bond is set at $5,000,000. Anyone with information is asked to call Illinois State Police at 618-542-1483 or call 911.
