MARION COUNTY — A single-car crash today on Selmaville Road resulted in two people being airlifted from the scene to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

According to Marion County Sheriff’s deputies, 48-year-old Mary Faught, of Centralia was traveling southbound just before noon on Selmaville Road, when the SUV she was driving ran off the left side of the road.

Faught brought the vehicle back to the roadway near the Page and Selmaville intersection, but the SUV overturned and flipped four times before coming to rest upside down in a ditch on the east side of the roadway.

Faught was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by Salem firefighters. Her passenger, 22-year-old Ryan Shaw, of Centralia, was thrown from the vehicle.

Both Faught and Shaw were airlifted from the scene, with the two helicopters landing in a nearby field.

Marion County ESDA, EMS, and sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash, along with Salem firefighters. The crash resulted in traffic being rerouted while emergency personnel responded to the incident.
