MARION COUNTY — A 17-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to four years in prison, after he pleaded guilty today in Marion County Court to the December armed robbery of the Dollar General Store in Central City.

Oslo White today waived his right to proceed in juvenile court and to be sentenced in criminal court. He entered into an agreement with the state in which he pleaded guilty to Class 1 felony aggravated robbery indicating a firearm, in exchange for a Class X armed robbery with a firearm charge being dismissed.

In addition to the four-year prison term, White will have to serve two years mandatory supervised release. Judge Michael McHaney has recommended white for impact incarceration. The prosecution withdrew a petition to revoke probation on a juvenile court conviction against White.

According to Central City Police Sergeant Nick Heath, around 9:30 p.m. on December 13, White approached the register at the Dollar General Store and handed the clerk a $20 bill to pay for a soda, only to pull a handgun on the clerk as she went to make change. She stood back and he took the money from the register.

There were only two clerks in the store at the time and no customers as the store was preparing to close in about 20 minutes. No injuries were reported and White fled from the store on foot.

Police officers searching White’s home following the robbery revealed items believed to have been used in the robbery. White was not home at the time of the search, but was arrested a few weeks later when he was found hiding on a closet shelf in a Centralia apartment.
