MOUNT VERNON — Two people were arrested on multiple drug charges Wednesday, when the the Mt.Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriffs Office High Risk Team served a knock and announce narcotics search warrant at 2701 Jones lot 6A.
The warrant was issued after investigations by the Mt.Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriffs Office Narcotics Division developed information that heroin was being sold from the residence.
Both 59-year-old Eddie G. Bennett, and 49-year-old Beverly A. Moore were at the home at the time the warrant was executed and both were taken into custody.
Bennett was arrested for alleged possession of 1-15 grams of heroin with the intent to deliver, possession of ammunition by a felon, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug equipment.
Moore was arrested for alleged possession of 1-15 grams of heroin with the intent to deliver, possession of cocaine, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug equipment.
They were both taken to the Jefferson County Jail where they await the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
